Is there any difference between overclocking 1067 to 1600 and overclocking 1333 to 1600? (such as stability) Can 1333 DDR3 out-overclock 1067 DDR3? Looking at newegg most EVGA x58 board bundles with ram are 1600 DDR3.įor the CPU I would choose the cheapest LGA1366 socket processors (X58 board only support that kind of proccessor right?), i7-920 and just overclock it to the i7-950 which is 3.066 GHz or to 3.20GHz( or close to it matching one of the i7 Processor Extreme Edition), is that smart?įor the graphics cards im thinking of getting the Geforce GTX 275 or the Geforce GTX 260. I have read somewhere it also supports Crossfire but the Evga site doesn't put enough detail on thier products to confirm it.Īs for the memory it says it supports 1600 DDR3 memory but looking at other X58 boards it only supports 1067/1333 DDR3 or only 1067 (intel board) then overclock it to 1600+. Currenty im going with the cheapiest motherboard that is covered in the lifetime warranty which is the EVGA X58 SLI (132-BL-E758-A1),not the -TR. With the lifetime warranty I choose to get Evga motherboard and Evga or XFX graphics card. Is 3 years more than enough time for another upgrade/replacement? Asus and Gigabyte only offer a 3 year warranty and asus boards such as Rampage 2 has some great overclocking features. Pny is starting to offer a lifetime warranty on thier cards too but I can't find if it covers overclocking. Evga (graphics cards and motherboards) and XFX (graphics cards) offers a lifetime warranty which covers overclocking. This is my first time building a computer tell me if im missing any parts.Īfter many weeks researching on the internet I have dicided to choose my parts based on warrenty and what it covers. Hello everyone, after having a computer for 4-5 years and many blue screens I believe it is time for an upgrade.
